Jonathan Atkinson Promoted to Managing Director

COBA is delighted to announce that Jonathan Atkinson has been promoted to the position of Managing Director. The promotion came into effect on 1 March 2012. As a result, Jonathan will take over complete responsibility for the UK site and the functions within it. Mark Cooke now assumes the title of Chief Executive Officer, working closely with all directors and activities of the COBA International Group of Companies.

Commenting on Jonathan’s promotion, Mark Cooke says, “Jonathan has worked tirelessly for the organisation for many years and cares passionately about the long term sustainability and on-going success of this business. He has made a huge contribution to its success to date in so many areas.”

Jonathan joined COBA Plastics in 1998 having just completed a BSc in Manufacturing Engineering at DMU whilst working for one of COBA’s customers. Responsibility came to him sooner than expected after the sad passing of COBA’s founder Tony Cooke and then Deputy Managing Director, Fred Wills. He quickly took on the mantle of a senior manager and subsequent promotions followed. Jonathan was made Manufacturing Manager in September 2001, completely restructuring the Manufacturing and Quality teams.

He was then appointed as Operations Director in June 2005 and more recently, Group Operations Director in April 2011.

“I am extremely excited and proud to take on the role of Managing Director for COBA Plastics and I hope to be able to build upon the success and reputation that COBA has developed under Mark Cooke’s leadership. Over the years, I have gained a great deal of experience across the COBA business and also worked on personal development away from the office, as a member of the Academy of Chief Executive Directors Forum,” says Jonathan.

And speaking of the future for COBA Plastics, Jonathan goes on to say, “We have a clearer vision than ever before with many exciting opportunities for substantial growth in the near future. This will be realised partly by a combination of new products and processes which coupled with the dedication and skills of its people, place COBA as a leading competitor in its field.”
