COBA Plastics group will be once again exhibiting at the Engineering Design Show being held at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena on 17th and 18th October 2018 (Stand C20).
Headquartered in Leicestershire, in the heart of the UK, we will be showcasing our key strengths in the design, development and manufacture of thermoplastic extruded and moulded components.
The various areas of specialist expertise within our COBA group of engineering and manufacturing companies enables us to offer a complete solution to our customers. We have the resources and knowledge to be totally self-sufficient, taking ownership of the entire process for a wide variety of projects, from prototype through to volume production.
COBA has a state-of-the-art engineering centre with 3D simulation, as well as specialist injection moulding and over-moulding facilities, and extensive capacity when it comes to the manufacture of thermoplastic extruded components.
Our exceptional facilities and skilled teams positions COBA Plastics group as a market leader within its field. It is one of the reasons why COBA is today a major Tier 1 and OEM supplier to the global automotive manufacturing industry.
Innovation has shaped our business over the last 50 years. This has been achieved through significant investment in premises, technology, equipment and the ongoing skills development of our people.
Over recent years, we have been instrumental in successfully developing innovative and effective plastic components for our automotive customers as an alternative to metal and rubber. The use of plastic as a material, such as TPV and TPE, supports their goals for weight reduction, CO2 emissions, fuel efficiencies and electrification while delivering cost savings too. The use of TPV, which is recyclable, is also more environmentally friendly and with a smaller manufacturing footprint means that less energy is required.
“There are many ways in which we are helping manufacturers when it comes to replacing metal with plastic, delivering a whole raft of weight reduction and cost saving benefits. Our ability to offer such a broad spectrum of design and development services, as well as full-scale manufacture under one roof, with centralised project management, is quite unique for a British manufacturer,” says Chris Richmond, Sales & Marketing Director – Technical Products.
Examples of recent projects have been the re-design and manufacture of injection-moulded armrest structures in glass filled nylon, replacing aluminium, and the conversion of 11 EPDM seals to TPV on hybrid vehicles delivering good weight savings.
Our design and engineering skills can also be transferred to non-automotive products too, and we welcome all types of enquiry from visitors to The Engineering Design Show. Our knowledgeable team will be on the COBA stand (C20) to discuss your project requirements in more detail. We look forward to seeing you there.
