News from South Africa

2007 was an exciting year for COBA in South Africa in which many changes took place allowing the company to go from strength to strength. In May COBA International acquired the remaining shares and COBA Plastics (Pty) Ltd became a full member of the Group.

Angus Money moved on to greener pastures and Martin Venn, who has been with the company since day one and has a wealth of experience, was promoted to General Manager.

As the business is growing at considerable pace, the company was fast running out of floor space. A three tier racking system was sent out from the UK and now installed provides a substantially increased stock holding.

Summer arrived in South Africa and to celebrate staff made the decision to paint the offices. A quick coat of paint and all was refreshed!

September saw the upgrading of the IT system including additional touch screens, RF scanners and an innovative new Demand Management System designed and installed by Mark Goodwin and his team from the UK.

Several excellent social events were held during the year. Apart from the usual braai (barbecue) a team building ten pin bowling competition was held in July and proved to be very successful.

Other staff promotions include Charlene Petzer to Financial Manager, George Gomis to Grade 2 Setter and Donovan Bewsher to Grade 3 Operator.

Martin Venn also achieved his Commercial Pilots License in record time. We always thought he was a real high flyer!
