New Facility for COBA Automotive in Romania

COBA International is pleased to announce that a new purpose-built facility for COBA Automotive S.r.l is scheduled to open its doors in Romania on 2nd January 2018.

The investment comes on the back of increased demand for our products from customers worldwide, and the need to expand our manufacturing capacity in a key strategic location, with a vision for the future.

When completed, it will mean that COBA Automotive will have two facilities, one in Romania and one in Slovakia, further adding to the COBA group’s European and international presence.

Phase 1 of the construction project is well underway on a ‘greenfield’ site in a prime geographical location within Ploiesti West Park in Ploiesti, Romania. It means that COBA Automotive S.r.l. will be in close proximity to many of our customers, offering excellent transport links on what is considered to be the largest business development in South East Europe.

The new 15002m facility, initially offers some 540m2 of manufacturing space, as well as offices and warehouse storage. It will be dedicated to the three shift production of tie down products within COBA’s seating and trim components portfolio.

From the outset, COBA Automotive S.r.l. will be implementing the same operational and quality management systems as COBA’s established manufacturing facilities ensuring seamless continuity of quality and service levels for our automotive customers.

An experienced operations and management team are already in place, alongside a programme of recruitment providing employment opportunities for the local community.

“This location was chosen for its close proximity to COBA’s current and emerging customer locations. Our aim is to further enhance COBA’s customer service levels and to continue to provide ‘best in class value’ with a select range of manufacturing capabilities,” says Jonathan Atkinson, Managing Director, COBA Plastics Ltd.

Speaking from COBA’s UK Headquarters, Jonathan adds: “This plant represents phase one of a two phase project with the potential to develop a further 1,800m2 facility over the next 12 – 18 months. The ‘COBA manufacturing system’ will be used from day one to manage, control and measure plant performance, as it is used in all other COBA manufacturing locations. We look forward to meeting with our clients over the coming months to ensure that this new venture delivers on our aims and integrates well with our existing working relationships.”
