COBA International has expanded its company portfolio yet again following its acquisition (3 October 2016) of CD Plastic Mouldings Ltd; an established and successful plastic injection moulding business also based in Leicester.
CD Plastic Mouldings will now trade under the name of COBA Plastics Moulding Ltd. As this latest COBA International acquisition is on a trade and assets basis, all 60 of its staff, including its management, are now employed by COBA Plastics Moulding Ltd. The fundamental day-to-day running remains unchanged and the company will continue to operate out of its existing Scudamore Road facility, as it has done for the last 29 years.
For COBA International, this is yet another strategic and significant acquisition giving the group, in particular its COBA Plastics extrusion manufacturing business, an injection moulding capability in the UK. CD Plastic Mouldings comes with 19 injection moulding machines ranging in size from 22mT to 420 mT of clamping force. It supplies injection moulded products to many different sectors, including automotive, fire and security, and is continuing to grow in a variety of markets, with a healthy order book for future sales. The company had previously been owned by The Concept Group.

COBA International group, which in the UK includes COBA Plastics Ltd, COBA Europe Ltd, COBA Precision Engineering Ltd as well as Leicester based Copely Developments, recently celebrated its 50-year anniversary. Some 850 people are now employed by the COBA International group across its manufacturing, engineering and distribution businesses in the UK, Europe, South Africa and Russia.
