COBA helping the Community on Mandela Day

Nelson Mandela Day was certainly a memorable occasion for COBA in Cape Town, South Africa. On 18th July, COBA Plastics and COBA Africa did something rather special to help those less fortunate individuals in the community.

In tribute to the life of Nelson Mandela, our team in Cape Town gave up 67 minutes of their time to do something good in the local community; 67 being especially poignant as it represented one minute for every year of Mandela’s public service. They decided to organise their own COBA soup run.

Everyone in the COBA Cape Town office donated money to make a big pot of soup, and the company funded the purchase of bread, butter and soup cups. The Matco vehicle was then used to drive through the surrounding streets, where our team handed out cups of soup and bread to people who were sleeping on the street, with no food, money or roof over their heads.

It was a very humbling experience for all involved, and we hope the perfect tribute to the great Nelson Mandela who always wanted ‘to make the world a better place’.
